NEW! 10 Lies the Church Tells
Women:
How the Bible has been misused to keep women in spiritual
bondage
by J. Lee Grady
Only $11 |
|
The gospel was never intended to restrain women from pursuing
God or to prevent them from fulfilling their divine destiny. In
this powerful book you will learn how cultural bias, male pride
and misinterpretation of the Bible have paralyzed women who are
called to do the work of Christ.
In 10 lies the Church Tells Women, you will discover:
- Why
Jesus went out of His way to minister to and disciple women
- Why
so many Christian women suffer in abusive marriages-and why
many pastors don't do anything about the problem
- Why
historic church leaders, including Martin Luther and John
Calvin, believed women were inferior to men
- How
"the Proverbs 31 woman" has been misinterpreted
to deny women opportunities in the workplace
- How
the apostle Paul, who told women in Corinth to "be silent,"
also empowered many women to be church leaders
- Why
we rarely hear sermons about the biblical prophetess Deborah

NEW! Hurt
People, Hurt People - Hope And Healing For Yourself
And Your Relationships by Sandra D. Wilson,
PH.D.
Only $11
|
|
Hurt people hurt people is more than a clever phrase. Hurt people
hurt others because they themselves have been hurt. And each one
of us has been hurt to one degree or another. As that damage causes
us to become defensive and self-protective, we may lash out at
others. Hurting becomes a vicious cycle.
But
God can help us break that cycle. He offers His healing and
hope.
Hope that will see more clearly how our wounding experiences
fit God's design for our lives.
Hope
that our scars will one day sing the praises of our living and
loving Saviour, even as we embrace the reality of choice, change,
and transformation.
Hope
that sees in the splintered fragments of broken lives the reflection
and triumph of Jesus' empty tomb.
Jesus Christ is the only all-sufficient healer for hurt people.
And He graciously uses human instruments in His healing work.
It is the prayer of the author that our loving Lord will use
this book as part of your healing process.
"Dr.
Sandy Wilson knows why people hurt, where they hurt, and how
to heal those hurts. She gets right to the heart of these matters
in her very insightful and provocative book. It is a must read
for anyone who wants to break free from the bondage of unhealed
personal hurts."

NEW! Released from Shame, Moving
Beyond the Pain of the Past by Sandra
D. Wilson
Only $11
|
|
Do
you feel like a caterpillar in a world of butterflies? Do you
feel...
- that
your problem is not what you DO but who you are?
- caught
in patterns of destructive relationships?
- that
you never get enough affirmation?
- afraid
you'll pass bad patterns along to your children?
- that
God probably loves you less than others
If these
questions fit you, you may be experiencing shame. Often shame
comes from being raised in a family that has an impaired ability
to provide its members with healthy nurturing. As a result, we
carry emotional scars into our adult lives, longing for happiness
but feeling unworthy of it. Sandra Wilson knows "shame based"
families from personal experience and from years as a family therapist.
Drawing from this background, she teaches us biblical principles
that have helped her and many others work through painful issues
and learn new, healthier ways to live. In this revised edition,
Dr. Wilson includes help for parents who want to break the intergenerational
cycle of shame and give their children a "grace-based" foundation
for life. |

BOUNDARIES
(hard cover) by
Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend
Only $18
|
|
"When
to say YES....When to say NO...To Take Control of your Life."
"Is your life out of control? Do people take advantage of you?
Do you have trouble saying no? Are you disappointed with God
because of unanswered prayers? Having clear boundaries is essential
to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A boundary is a personal property
line that marks those things for which we are responsible. In
other words, boundaries define who we are and who we are not.
Boundaries impact all areas of our lives: Physical, Mental,
Emotional, Spiritual. Often, Christians focus so much on being
loving and unselfish that they forget their own limits and limitations."
This book will help you set your boundaries for a healthy life!
We trust this book will be a great blessing to you in your walk
with the Lord.

A
Biblical View Of Our Emotions
Many
Christians are taught to ignore their emotions, or else categorize
them as either "good" or "bad." From the biblical
perspective, however, all emotions are valid, but they must be evaluated
on the basis of their intensity, duration and appropriateness. Where
"religion" often leads people into bondage, denial and
inappropriate emotional responses, the truth of God's Word sets
us free to follow the example of our Savior and honestly and openly
experience the full range of godly human emotions. This teaching
will help you face your feelings and still govern your actions by
the Word of God, which is exactly how Jesus Christ lived. By Mark
Graeser

The
Art Of Forgiveness
This
teaching contains information you can utilize for the rest of your
life, because we live in a fallen world where sin plagues even the
most mature Christian. Biblical forgiveness (not compromise) is
an integral part of true love, and it is indispensable for spiritual,
mental, emotional and physical health. You will see from Scripture
that the key to you extending forgiveness (and thus the heart of
Christ) to someone who wrongs you is your understanding of God's
forgiveness of you in Christ. The teaching shows what forgiveness
is, why we need to learn this art and how to practice it. By John

The
Role Of Women In The Church
- 1
Women
have often been excluded from teaching and leadership in the Church
by people citing I Timothy 2:11ff, especially the phrase, "I
do not permit a woman to teach." This teaching shows that the
prevailing "understanding" of those verses is really a
misunderstanding. Explaining the Gnostic heresy threatening the
Church at that time, the teaching clearly sets forth the truth about
this seldom-understood section, showing that the point of it is,
in fact, that women should be encouraged to exercise their ministries
in the Body of Christ. By
John Schoenheit & Karen Anne Graeser

Role
of Women in the Church - 2
Women have been excluded from teaching
and leading in the Christian Church, historically and currently.
I Timothy 2:11-15 has been used to support this stance. This teaching
clarifies the meaning of these verses by exploring the Gnostic "myths"
and "false doctrines," against which Paul was warning Timothy. Also
in the teaching are some highlights of noted women in the Bible,
and studies of Hebrew and Greek words which have been "watered down"
in translation when applied to women. By Sue Carlson

Establishing
Healthy Boundaries
In
this teaching John Schoenheit shows that Jesus Christ had boundaries
in his dealings with mankind, and did not attempt to meet every
need that people had. It also defines some boundaries in Christian
leadership as evidenced by the apostle Paul when compared to the
"super-apostles" of Corinth. Then Gary Theisen gives examples of
healthy boundaries in the biological realm, in particular desma
cells that have semi-permeable membranes that allow good things
in but keep bad things out. He also applies this knowledge to marriage,
and the way the husband is to love his wife. By John Schoenheit.

Women:
Man's View or God's View?
This
sequel to The Role of Women in the Church (Mar/Apr '96) and The
Role of Women in the Church - 2 (May/Jun '01) clarifies three
challenging sections of Scripture. First, it explains 1 Corinthians
11:1-16, about headship, men and women, and customs in a worship
service. Second, it explains 1 Corinthians 14:33-35, which, as
it is commonly translated, seems to indicate that women should
not speak in a church service. Thirdly, it delves into the concepts
of headship and submission of Ephesians 5:22-33. The teaching
closes with an overview of Esther, a captivating woman whose courage
saved the Israelites from destruction during their captivity in
Persia. This teaching is a powerful encouragement to women who
have doubted God's calling because of false interpretations of
difficult passages of Scripture. By Sue Carlson

The
Joy & Rewards of Sexual Purity
Three
dynamic women from the CES community team up to encourage the listeners
to remain sexually pure, or to receive God's forgiveness and then
make a new commitment to sexual purity. Nancy Berwid speaks of God's
design for sexuality to be expressed in marriage, and shares her
inspiring testimony about her experience of God restoring her to
a place of purity after many years of disobedience to God's Word.
Karen Theisen shares from her wealth of experience studying this
subject biblically and teaching sexual abstinence to teenagers.
Kathy Lunardini, an experienced public health nurse, then shares
on sexually transmitted diseases (this part is graphic, and parental
discretion is advised). Taken together, these sharings provide
a powerful and persuasive package that will help anyone, but especially
young people, get on the right track and glorify God with their
God-designed bodies. By Nancy Berwid, Karen Theisen and Kathy
Lunardini
